Liquid cash reserves serve an important role in your financial picture. Cash reserves provide portfolio stability in declining markets, a safety net for unexpected expenses, and uncommitted resources for buying opportunities. Too much cash, however, is inefficient and can reduce your overall return. Your financial advisor will work with you to make sure your cash reserves level is appropriate and that if securities need to be liquidated it is done so in a way that is not detrimental to your portfolio strategy.
